What it takes to be a professional acupuncturist!

Many of my clients are often not aware that as a professional acupuncturist we undertake many years of study to qualify and we continue in our professional development each year.

So what does it take to be a professional acupuncturist?

I started my journey with acupuncture in 2013 and then undertook a 3.5 year honours degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

As part of my degree I studied :

Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture, biomedicine, pathophysiology, anatomy and physiology, research methods, clinical skills, reflective practice & business development.

My degree was accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB) and the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) who aim to uphold the standards of acupuncture training and practice in the United Kingdom.

Remember to always check if your acupuncturist is a member of the BAcC, just pop onto their website and do a search!
